Gayà: “It was a very nice and special goal to help the team to victory”
José Luis Gayà was on the scoresheet against Cádiz CF, and he spoke to VCF Media after the 2-0 win at Mestalla.
A special goal
It has been a resource for us. I saw the goalkeeper come out and I took the chance calmly, with the pause that we have to have when we are in front of goal -because we had all the advantage in the world. It was a very nice and special goal to help the team to victory.
His recovery
It hasn't been a long time, but these few weeks have been very good for me to disconnect a little and rest, because I had accumulated many minutes. We have worked hard and very well, and this has been seen. I lasted the entire game without problems.
A spectacular finish
It was in the same area, but with a different finish. My first goal against Córdoba was with a strong strike and this one was more delicate. I also remember that I had a very similar goal with the national team and another against Atalanta that was ruled out. In the end, they are resources that we can use when we put ourselves out there. It helped the team to go ahead.
An important win
For us, it was essential to achieve these three points after four games without a win. The team had suffered a slight downturn. Against Mallorca there were positive things, especially without the ball. We had to improve with the ball and we had been working this week in order to be more assertive and not miss so many passes. We started very well and the first goal and the support from the stands helped us, then with the sending off we were able to play more comfortably. In the end, it was a hard-fought victory.

The impact of Mestalla
The fans are very connected to us. They see a team that give everything in every game, that put our heart and soul into every ball and, in the end, that is what the people at Mestalla want. When things have gone well for us we have had that connection with the fans and that is what we have to continue doing until the end of the season, in order to not slow down and to score points.
Going game-by-game
We are very clear about everything. We know the season we are coming off of, and this one is also going to be very difficult. That's why from the beginning we want to get points and win games. We have set the goal of going game-by-game, and I think it is the best way to get results.
